The World Today is an international news and current affairs programme from the BBC World Service.

It goes out in three editions, 7 days a week, from Monday to Friday at 2300-0000, 0200-0400 and 0500-0730 GMT and on Saturdays and Sundays at 0200-0230, 0500-0600, 0600-0630 and 0700-0800 GMT.

The programme reaches millions of listeners around the world.
The majority of them will listen to it early in their day which is why it tries to answer two questions in particular: what has happened overnight and what does the new day bring?

The programme deals with breaking news as it happens and looks ahead to the main events of the day.

The World Today is a forward-looking programme. It has a broad agenda and it seeks to present the day's news and a whole lot more in a lively, engaging and digestible manner.

The World Today hears from the world's decision makers as well as correspondents and analysts and it will always go the extra mile to hear from ordinary people caught up in the news.

Highlights of the three World Today editions are also available in the form of World Today Select - a fifteen minute audio compilation which can be heard on the Asia Pacific schedule as well as a number of partner stations around the world.
